Barbara Reynolds

Barb passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 14, 2014 after a 27-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  She was born in Wareham, Massachusetts to Marc and Judy Reynolds and always considered Cape Cod as her home despite spending her youth as an Air Force brat and moving all over the world.  A significant portion of her youth was spent in England, France and Japan.  Here in the U.S. Barb lived in Alabama, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Utah in her formative years.  Barb found a soft spot in her heart for Utah when her dad was first stationed at Hill AFB in 1974.  Barb graduated from Layton High School in 1975 and went on to receive a degree from Utah State in computer science.

Barb entered the business world as a computer programmer and worked for Liberty Mutual in Boston, CONTEL in Dayton and Sacramento, and Charles Schwab in San Francisco.  While living in Utah, she spent many hours volunteering at the Hill Aerospace Museum.

Besides her adventurous spirit and love of travel, Barb enjoyed swimming, running, skiing and hiking, and even accompanied her dad and step-mom on their honeymoon, hiking in Greeley, CO.  She finished a couple of marathons in Rhode Island and Washington, DC, and ran in her beloved Falmouth Road Race a few times prior to the onset of MS.  She loved the outdoors, and was especially fond of Popponesset Inn in Mashpee, Massachusetts, where she spent many summers working for “Mrs C”, her grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy and her father, Lt Gen Marc C. Reynolds, USAF, Retired.  She is survived by her brother, Scott and his wife Karen and their three children, Alexandra, Marc, and Beau and her step-mother, Ellie Reynolds.  Barb is also survived by her step-sisters, Pam (Randy) Chatelain, Lisa (Karl) Oelke, Kristan Ingebretsen, and Karine (Mike) Kucej, and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Barb was blessed with many special, dedicated and loving caregivers during her lifetime who enabled her to enjoy life to the fullest. A very special thanks go out to Melissa, Sarah, Blake, Gayla, Nicole, her step-sister Karine, Sandy, Dr. Mansfield, and many others who helped her endure the challenges of Advanced MS.  The care Barb received over the years from Harmony and Rocky Mountain Health Care was simply wonderful.  Barb had the most wonderful neighbors like Brenda, Dena and Carol who watched over her, read to her, and most importantly, were great friends.

Barb showed us all extraordinary strength and courage in dealing with the countless challenges posed by MS.  She was selfless and eternally positive.  We will miss her smile, laugh, and lifelong lessons on the importance of patience.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at her home, 108 W 1875 N, North Ogden, on October 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ofden Mortuary.
