Bobby Wayne Spencer, 78, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014.

He was born March 21, 1936 in Athens, Alabama, the son of James Edward and Alma Lyles Spencer (George Walton).

On December 23, 1958, Bobby married Emily Norene Whitaker and they were blessed with three children.

Bobby served his country in the US Air Force for 23 years. He was a Vietnam Vet. He had many jobs; most enjoyable was being a Flight Engineer.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Guy T. Smith Lodge No. 883 F. & A.M. of Alabama.

Bobby earned a Master’s degree in Psychology from BYU and worked for and retired from Davis County Mental Health as a drug and alcohol therapist.

He loved spending time with his family in the outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping and enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching college football (Alabama). He will be missed by his friends and family.

Bobby is survived by his children, Frederick (Carolyn) Spencer, Clinton; Jubal (Jody) Spencer, Roy; Janet (Chad) Conatser, Riverdale; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and two nephews, James Spencer (Margaret) Walker and Tommy Frederick (Debra) Walker, Athens, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norene, and one sister, Katherene Walker.

The family wishes thank the staff at Chancellor Gardens for the love and care of Dad.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14th at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Services will be conducted by Unity Lodge 18. The family will meet with friends and family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
