Ogden – Brian Davis, 59, passed away suddenly at his home on November 29, 2013 after a long illness. He was born on March 31, 1954 to Lewis and LaVerne Davis in Ogden, Utah. Brian married Debbie Gregg on December 17, 1978. They shared 34 years together. Brian graduated from Roy High School in 1972 and went on to earn degrees from Weber State College, Utah State University, and a PhD from the University of Georgia. He served as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War and traveled often to Southeast Asia. Brian served on the faculty at Weber State University for over 25 years. He was the founding director of the MBA program and was serving as the Century Institute Scholar and Presidential Distinguished Professor of Business Administration at the time of his passing. Brian was the recipient of many awards for his teaching, research and collaborative work. He loved his students, the teaching profession, and serving at Weber State University. Brian was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden. Before his illness, he served on the vestry of his parish and as the interfaith officer for the Episcopal Diocese of Utah. Brian was a strong advocate for inter-religious understanding and his research on the changing religious landscape of Utah garnered national and international attention. Brian is survived by his wife, Debbie of Ogden, his daughter Taryn Davis of Rockvale, Tennesee, daughter Brianna Davis of Salt Lake City, and son James Davis of Roy. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Nicole Bennett of Eugene, Oregon, twin brother Bruce (Valerie) Davis of Layton, brother Alan (Eileen) Davis of Layton, brother Michael (Kathy) Davis of Roy, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and LaVerne Davis of Ogden and his brother, Lewis Brent (Elaine) Davis of Winston, Georgia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with the Reverend Vanessa Cato officiating. Friends and colleagues may visit family on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday afternoon from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Columbarium at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
