Carol Dawn West Bingham
Carol Dawn West Bingham surrounded by her family, slipped into eternity due to a sudden illness on the morning of June 2, 2017 in Bountiful, UT. She was born in Malad, ID on April 4, 1935, the second daughter of George Milford West and Veda Mae Stone. Her parents moved to Arcata, CA where her father ran an auto body repair shop. It was in Arcata that she met her first husband, Delmar Phillip Johnson who, at the time, was serving as a full-time missionary. Later she moved to Salt Lake City, where she dated Delmar. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Steven and David. David was only with them a few short hours and returned to his Heavenly Father.
After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school and worked her way, as a beautician, through nursing school receiving her degree from Weber State College. She spent many years working in the Northwest and Alaska as a registered nurse, a job she truly loved. In 2002 she met the love of her life, Kenneth D. Bingham, while they were both working in the Bountiful LDS Temple. They were married for time and all eternity on September 4, 2002 and enjoyed 15 wonderful years together.
Carol was a devoted member of the LDS Church and had just concluded 16 years of service as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple and had served several years in the Seattle Temple before moving to Utah to be closer to her family. Ken and Carol served two missions in the Utah Ogden Mission. Carol also served as a hostess at the Conference Center for a time.
Carol was preceded in death by her father and mother, a sister, Barbara and a son, David. She leaves behind her wonderful husband of 15 years, Kenneth D. Bingham (Bountiful), a brother, George D. West (Darlene) Salt Lake, sisters Helen Hanner (Don) McKinleyville, CA, and Ann Marie Chorn, Salt Lake and a son, Steven R. Johnson (Jolene) Centerville, step sons, Richard K. Bingham (Vera) Bountiful, Curtis E. Bingham (Karen) Bountiful, step daughter Marilyn Williams (Jeff) Sandy, and 31 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Carol was thrilled with her posterity and was so proud of them all!
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Stone Creek Ward Chapel at 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful. There will be a viewing for family and friends on Friday, June 9th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East and on Saturday from 11:30 am-12:30 pm at the church prior to services. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
