Carol East Stanger “Grandma Honey”

June 8, 1933 ~ May 17, 2017

Carol passed away peacefully in Layton, Utah on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Carol was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and attended both Ogden and Weber High School.  She worked at Smith’s Food and Revlon where she gained her love of cosmetics.  She was a hard worker and a caregiver by nature.  She selflessly cared for both of her parents until their passing.  Carol lit up the room with her smile, beauty and cheerful spirit.  She loved without condition and had a special appreciation for the “little things in life.”  She always had a special bond with her granddaughter, Melissa.  They spent a lifetime full of traveling, shopping and eating great food together.

Carol is survived by four children, Steve (Maritza) Mapes, Brent (Barbara) Calver, Cheryl Stanger and Jill Stanger, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Calvert, her parents, Harvey and Della Marriott East and her brother Dallas East.

A special thanks to her granddaughter Melissa, for years of care giving through her Alzheimer’s journey, her special Angel friends, Sharon and Alaina, Layton Park Memory Care and staff and A Step Forward Hospice.

Graveside services will be held on her birthday, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
