Colleen Bair

September 26, 1938 — May 5, 2018

Colleen Cook Bair, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, “Momma to all” passed away peacefully in her home on May 5, 2018 in the presence of her sweetheart and eternal companion.

Colleen was born September 26, 1938 in American Fork, UT to Harold and Deneice Humphreys Cook.

She loved working at the family floral business and was proud of the fact that she could make change at the age of five.  After graduating from American Fork High School, she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake.  She then worked for Continental and American Fork banks.

She fell in love with an Alpine boy, Douglas Bair, and was married July 18, 1958.  They sealed their marriage on September 10, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They left Utah Valley and lived in Silver City and Tyrone, New Mexico and then in Wright, Wyoming.

She was extremely proud of her three sons, Steven (Carol), Dwaine (Barbara) and Danny (Kim) Bair, and even more proud of her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and she shared their accomplishments with everyone.

She was the manager at the Wright Recreation center, and everyone knew her as Momma Bair because she was the second mother to all. Momma Bair had a great love for our Savior, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings in Relief Society and Primary.

She received the Silver Beaver award for exceptional character in an individual who has provided distinguished service in scouting for her service from 1974-1978. She was the first female to receive the Silver Beaver award in the state of New Mexico and third in the entire country.

She is survived by her siblings Lynn and Kim Cook and Marekay Bean.  Her parents and her brother Frank along with her in-laws preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Angel Street Chapel, 628 South Angel Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Alpine Cemetery, Alpine, Utah at 4 p.m.
