Dan F. Thomas Jr.
On a beautiful spring afternoon, April 4, 2016, our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Dan Frank Thomas Jr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 94.
Dad was born September 17, 1921 to Dan Frank Thomas Sr. and Nina Wallace Bradshaw in Fort Worth, Texas. He was raised and educated in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas.
He enrolled in the U.S. Army in 1940 at the age of 19. He proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged February 1953. He had many various jobs until he began working at HAFB as an Air Traffic Controller. He retired September 1981. After retirement he found he didn’t enjoy it. He began working as a counselor at Ogden Regional in the ACT unit.
He married Bonnie Lee Riley June 10, 1952. They had five children: Debbie (Ken) Hancock, Beth (Byron) Burnett, Dan (Carrie) Thomas, Jeanne (David) Laloli deceased and Mary Jane (Brent) Warren. Dan and Bonnie later divorced.
He married Lisa Armstrong Montague July 13, 1991 and became Dad to her two children Lynsie (Levi) Hone and Todd (Malari) Montague whom he loved as his own. They were sealed in the Bountiful Temple December 10, 2004.
Dad was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings but especially loved his time serving as the Bishop of the Washington Terrace 2nd Ward.
Dad is survived by his wife Lisa, six children, 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Doris, sister Betty, daughter Jeanne and her husband David.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family Thurs. from 6-8 pm and 9:45-10:45 am prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
