Donald Clark Ashby

Donald Clark Ashby passed away Monday, December 7, 2015.

He was born on April 24, 1935 to Briant Earsel and Isabell Ashby in Salt Lake City, Utah. During his childhood he lived in Cokeville, Wyoming, Clearfield, and Kaysville, Utah. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953, and attended Idaho State College.

He honorably served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

Don married Sandra Faye Hooper in Boise, Idaho in 1958. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 1961. He built their home in Roy in 1965 and lived there until the time of his death.

He enjoyed his garden, feeding his birds, and riding his motorcycle. He never missed an opportunity to go dancing. He served in several scouting positions and was a ward clerk for over thirteen years. His family was his greatest accomplishment. Don considered himself fortunate to be self-employed the majority of his life, pouring concrete, a trade he truly loved. He was also a partner with his family in “The Artist Touch” for 33 years. At the time of his death he was employed by his sons Don and Ben at their business, “Mold Makers”.

Don is survived by his wife and five children: Gar (Michelle) Ashby, Rett (Pauline) Ashby, Ben (Karen) Ashby, Amy (Jeff) Peterson, Don (Erica) Ashby; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He is also survived by his brothers Howard (Nola) Ashby; R. Dale (Carole) Ashby. Don is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Dorothy and Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the LDS chapel at 4524 South 2525 West Roy, Utah. Friends and family are invited to visit prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p m. at the church.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
