LAYTON, UT – Donald Bertram York, age 91, left this world March 8, 2015, at his step-son’s home in West Jordan, Utah.
He is survived by his step-daughter Ruth, her husband Richard McLoy, and their three son’s Ron, Tony, and Pat. Also surviving are his step-son Vern, his wife Debbie Burns, and their three son’s Ben, Rusty, and Ryan.
Don was born January 3, 1924, in San Bernadino, California. In September 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy a little over two months before the USA entered World War II. He actively served until December 1946. He then joined the reserves from January 1947 to July 1950. He then accepted by the USPS but before he could go to work he was recalled for the Korean Conflict where he served from August 1950 through December 1951. After Korea he served as a deputy sheriff for a few months, but was offered what he considered a better job with the US government up grading war planes and later missiles. He worked for many years out of Hill Air Force Base. While there he met and married Lula Belle Lyons Burns. Lu was the queen of his life and he treated her so. Lu passed on in 2000.
After years of careful consideration, Don chose to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was later sealed to Lu and his family in the Jordan River Temple for time and all eternity.
Welcome home Don.
