Douglas Craig Harmston

February 12, 1947 ~ January 14, 2016

Douglas Craig Harmston, my loving husband, amazing Dad, teasing "Papa", and great friend passed away January 14, 2016.He was born on February 12, 1947 to James and Stella Harmston in Ogden, Utah.

He graduated from Weber High School in 1965, was happily reunited with his friends at their 50 year reunion in August 2015.  He served an LDS mission to the Philippines.

He married the love of his life, Connie Hickenlooper, on March 14, 1969.  Together they raised 5 strong boys to be great men.  He loved his boys more than life itself; they were his pride and joy.  He taught them to work hard for what they want in life, and that family is always the most important thing.  He was very proud that "the boys" outnumbered "the girls"!  He was a second father to many of the boys friends all of his life!

Doug loved the finer things in life.  He was a master chef of homemade food, pickled eggs, potato salad, mashed potatoes, and his Shepherd's Pie.  He loved loud 70's to present music, and his Mercedes Benz. Doug was proud of his Rolex watches, sharp clothes, jackets, and shoes.  He loved Christmas, clocks, summer BBQ's, his home, deck, creek, the deer and yard. He enjoyed the History Channel, Black Holes, Gold Rush and Ancient Aliens.  He was a proud Ute's fan!

Every Sunday he made a fabulous dinner and all his family and friends were always welcome. We will miss your dinners, your jokes, your sarcasm and laughter and the grandkids will miss "whack-a-mo's" and "I'm gonna eat your belly" and "Papa Loves You"!

Doug is survived by his wife, Connie of 46 years; sons, Troy (Debbi), Trent, James, Ben (Tawny) and Lance;  his sister, Lana (Michael) Bitton; nephew, Nathan (Cathy) Harmston; and many more nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in-laws, and his son's friends he loved unconditionally, mentored, and fed; grandchildren, Kirsti (Jeff), Brittany (Devin), Korin (Thomas), Austin, Brock, Brody, Bentley, Berlyn, Gary and Stella; great grandchildren Donovan and Aden; and his fur-babies, Billie, Paws, Shadow, Scottie, Duke and Sadie, and nightly walks to see his deer.

He was preceded in death by many furry companions.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

In Lieu of flowers, Connie has asked that you tell your Dad, your Papa (or loved ones) that you love them and give them a really big hug!  Tomorrow is never promised, tell them today! Doug loved and celebrated every day of his life and wants you to do the same!

Interment will be at the Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.

Doug,  You, will be forever in our hearts!
