Francis Gerald "Jerry" Putnam

October 3, 1933 ~ May 4, 2014

Francis Gerald Putnam, age 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 4, 2014. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph A. and Florence Jesse Putnam on October, 3, 1933. He graduated from West High School where he lettered in Football, Track and Music. He served in the US Navy and was a true American Patriot.

Jerry loved to make people laugh and was an entertainer and practical joker. He loved life, was always on the go, and was a very hard worker. He was a self-made business man who successfully owned and operated many enterprises including gas stations, hotels, campers and trailers, and Crystal Hot Springs.  He was passionate about sports and coached his sons and grandsons in Track and Football.

Jerry was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings and loved the scriptures.  He loved to serve and spent countless hours volunteering for local Senior Centers over the past 15 years.

Jerry was married to Ila Fay Phelps in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They spent 45 years together raising nine children, Paul Putnam (Melanie), Jerry Putnam (Wendy), Kent Law (Lori), Charles Law (Debra), Cynthia Stanford (Kent), Elsa Elisabeth Stokes (Bruce), Janette Singleton (Kent), Don Law (Linda), and Dennis Law deceased (Charlotte).  In 2008, Jerry married Pamela Green in the Bountiful LDS Temple.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Putnam; her daughters, Heather Bringard (Jason) and Jessica Rigby (Rich); brother, Stephen; sisters, Jean, Gloria, and Donna; as well as his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Fay Phelps; and brothers, Ralph, Robert, and Paul.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 17 th Ward Chapel, 368 East Elberta Dr., North Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
