Gary Arthur Bosworth

October 13, 1938 ~ September 1, 2016

Gary Arthur Bosworth, 77, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 13, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, to Curtis C. Bosworth and Dorothy C. Giles. Raised in Ogden, he was a graduate of Ogden High School and later received dual degrees from Brigham Young University in Business and Sociology. He remained a true, blue fan of his alma mater his entire life.

Gary met and married his eternal companion, Marsha K. Uibel, on July 9, 1964. The following year, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. They grew in love for fifty-two years and were blessed with four children.

He and his brother, Richard, continued the family business in Ogden, where they successfully ran U&I Furniture on Wall Avenue for almost forty years. Gary appreciated and enjoyed the many good relationships he formed with customers, employees, and other members of the community throughout his career. He rarely went anywhere without someone recognizing him and approaching him with stories of their dealings together and expressions of their gratitude.

Gary was a hard worker, a loving father, and a devoted husband. He was generous to a fault - providing luxuries and opportunities not only for his family, but for many within his sphere of influence. He enjoyed boating, skiing, fishing, swimming, and spending his free time in the great outdoors. Whether he was catching trout in Montana, marlin in Hawaii, or giant tuna in Mexico, his love of fishing took him to distant locations around the world.

He was an avid traveler who made friends easily everywhere he went. He instilled that same fondness for travel in each of his children, often taking them along on excursions to faraway places. The love he had for his children extended to his many grandchildren - who he treasured like precious gems - and they loved him in return for his kind and gentle and selfless ways.

Gary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was never afraid to share the gospel and blessed the lives of others wherever he went, through his example, goodwill, and willingness to serve. He is remembered by many for his service in the Young Men's organization of the Church, often taking the youth on fishing trips, hosting them at the family cabin at Bear Lake - where he loved to spend time with his wife and children - or having them over to the house where they enjoyed the swimming pool and his famous barbecued hamburgers. Other callings included diligent service as a home teacher, stake missionary, and temple worker. He truly loved the people he served and always gave everything he had.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha; his daughters, Carrie Anne Bosworth, Eagle Mountain; Trisha (Colten) Johansen, South Weber; his son, Brandon (Charlene) Bosworth, Ogden; and his brother, Richard (Doris) Bosworth, Ogden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and darling grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Brian C. Bosworth.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Weber Heights Stake Center, 1401 Country Hills Drive, Ogden, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, followed by funeral services in the chapel at 2 pm.

Interment will take place immediately following at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
