George Richard Allen

George Richard Allen passed away Saturday, March 24 2018 at the age of 84.

He was born March 23, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho to parents George Henderson and Catherine Beardsley Allen.

Richard enjoyed life and had many hobbies including:  listening to classical music, wood working, boating, fishing and snow skiing. He served a tour of duty in Germany for the US Army.   In his later years, he served as a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary where he worked to save lives and promote boating safety.  He was a career engineer for the phone company until he took early retirement at age 55 to start a successful high-end audio and home theatre company with two business associates.

At age 21, he married Mary Parkin and they raised three children before the couple later divorced.  Richard married Tracy Porter and they enjoyed over 30 years together before the marriage ended in divorce.

He is survived by his brother James Allen (Shelley) of Pocatello, ID; daughter Julie Elliott (Ian) of Boulder, CO; son Chad Allen (Ophie) of Bountiful, UT; and Cathy Kay (Robert) of North Salt Lake, UT.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Apple Village Assisted Living, Inspiration Hospice, and the many medical professionals, caregivers and volunteers who assisted Richard with his physical and medical needs.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations may be made to bestfriends.org

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit from 9:30 – 10:30 am prior to services.   Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
