Jack Russell, 92, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Saturday April 9, 2016.

He was born in Ogden, Utah to James W. and Helen Russell (Donaldson), the youngest of seven children.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Stanley, Walter, sisters Lizzie, Agnes, Helen and Dorothy and a son-in-law, Stephen “Joe” Chugg.

Jack married Venita Call, his wife of 68 years, on June 6, 1947. They have three children, Lynette, Paula and Scott. They also have 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Ogden High School. In 1943, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and fought in Iwo Jima during World War II. He was wounded and earned a Purple Heart for his service. Jack was very proud to be a Marine, and often said "once a Marine, always a Marine".

He later retired from Hill Air Force Base after 33 years of service. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and travel.

He and his wife enjoyed attending WWII Marine reunion events to reunite with his comrades.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 18th at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 6-8pm, and Monday 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
