James John Bashford

James John Bashford, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.  He was born on August 30, 1936 in Duncombe, Iowa, the son of James Leroy and Kathaleen Mary Depler Bashford.

He married Carole Bingham in Ogden, Utah.  They later divorced.

James was a skilled carpenter.  He assisted helping all their children in building their homes.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities.  His favorite thing to do was make Sunday dinner for his kids and grandkids. James loved to make people laugh.

James is survived by his sons, Tom (Tina) Bashford and Kent (Linda) Bashford; daughters, Sharon (Mark) Christensen, Karla (Marty) Phipps, and Kelly (Chris) Ward; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and sister, Betty (Boyd) Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janice Smith; and son-in-law, Rob Allred.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
