Karen Alayne Lindquist Larsen

August 7, 1930 ~ November 15, 2018

Karen Alayne Lindquist Larsen was born on August 7, 1930 in Logan, Utah to Marguarite  Hansen and Kenneth O. Lindquist. She was the oldest of four siblings and graduated from Logan High School.

She married the man of her dreams, Darwin Miller Larsen, on April 15, 1949 in the Logan Temple upon his return from World War II as a Paratrooper.

They began fulfilling their earthly life here together in Logan while Dar was working in his family Pepsi business. Their family grew in the next 20 years to include five beautiful children, two girls, Kari Jo (Jim) Whitelock and Shauna Larsen and three boys, Kory (Karen) Larsen, Kurt (Desiree) Larsen, and Brad (Angie) Larsen. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Lindquist. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenny; and sister, Kathy.

Karen moved with her family and the Pepsi business to Ogden, Utah in 1956. There, they began a life time of service and influence in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had many callings and opportunities. She also chaired the Miss Cherry Days Pageant in the community and other women’s organizations.

Karen had a flair for decorating with elegance and unusual effectiveness that gained her recognition from newspapers and magazines.

She made her home a place filled with joy and laughter and perfectly prepared meals and atmosphere. Halloween was always a favorite to all who came to her door and found their sack was presented a can of Pepsi. She also loved Christmas

Karen and Dar were a renown couple among family, friends, and the community until the tragic passing of Darwin on September 15, 1989. Karen’s world was changed dramatically when the light of her life was sadly taken from her, as they were separated for the next 29 years.

She has lived everyday faithful to the love and care of her growing family. She was a meticulous mother with a quick sense of humor and wit. She could be quite serious one minute and have you laughing the next. When she had a moment to herself she found great joy in playing the organ and if you were lucky she would play something for you too.

Her last years were troubled by a debilitating illness that altered her life and abilities greatly. She struggled to maintain her independence but gave others the opportunity to serve her and get to know the beautiful and exquisite lady that they served patiently; not all days were easy. Special love and gratitude from all of us and mom to Mercy, Kami, Angie, Joy, Mariam, and Lucy.

She passed away quickly and peacefully at her home on November 15, 2018 at the amazing age of 88. She will be thought of often and missed greatly..but her reunion in the arms of her sweetheart brings all of us tears of great joy. She was one of a kind. Love you Mom.
