Kelly Penrod

Kelly William Penrod

1956 ~ 2016

Our sweet, kind, loving husband, father, papa, son, and brother completed his earthly mission on Friday, March 25, 2016.  Kelly was born in Ogden, Utah, on December 28, 1956 to Clarence and Vera Penrod.  He was the second of three boys.  Growing up in Pleasant View, he graduated from Weber High School where he was active in wrestling and football.

He married his junior high / high school sweetheart, Melanie Randall, on June 29, 1977, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with three wonderful children.

Those who knew and loved him recognized his quiet demeanor, but were witnesses that his actions spoke volumes of the kind of person he was.  His frequent and contagious laugh will never be forgotten.

Kelly was BELOVED by his grandchildren.  From the day they were born, he took great pleasure in holding and caring for them.  His vacations were spent traveling across the country just to be near them.  They will sorely miss their “Papa”.

If he couldn’t be with his grandchildren, fishing was a close second.  He loved the quality time spent in the outdoors with family and friends.

Kelly served faithfully in many church callings.  He had a soft heart for those with extra needs, and loved working with the Special Education children at Bates Elementary School and the Special Needs Mutual.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Melanie; children, Dallas (Jyl) Penrod, Ashlee (Jared) Brueckner, and Courtnee (Zack) Blair; his four grandchildren, Hudson, Braylon, Lyla, and Riggins; his father, Clarence; and two brothers, Mike and Brent.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera and his father-in-law, Gerald Randall.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the ICU doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital for their kindness and tender care of Kelly.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 1st Ward, 3100 North 575 East, North Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
