Kenneth Ray Barney, 62, of Clearfield, Utah, passed away surrounded by loved ones August 7, 2016.
Ken was born April 5, 1954 in Panguitch, Utah, to Dorothy Cameron and LaMar Barney. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1972, and served honorably in the Sweden Stockholm Mission.
On January 8, 1977, Ken married the love of his life, Elaine Bringhurst, in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. Together, they have four children: Brenda (Doug) Boyle, Jacob (Nicole) Barney, Kristie Barney (Travis Garner), and Steven Barney. He has seven adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will miss fishing trips, spudnuts, and talking BYU football.
Ken is survived by his parents, wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings: Laraine (Bruce) Marble, Barbara (Dennis) Dalton, Janell Barney (Lisa Rhett), Janett Young, and Lewis (Sue) Barney, along with countless friends.
Ken loved BYU football, golf, fishing, and bragging about his grandkids on Facebook. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. Ken loved his fellowman and lived a life of service. Following an honorable discharge from the USAF, he earned a degree in computer science from the University of Phoenix and worked for the IRS, where he made many lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church, 24 S. Main Street, Hatch, Utah. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Hatch City Cemetery, Hatch, Utah.
Ken had a special place in his heart for children, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Primary Children’s Medical Center in his honor.
