Leslie Moroni Atkinson

December 7, 1935 ~ April 20, 2019

Leslie Moroni Atkinson, of Roy, Utah, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 83. He was born December 7, 1935, to his parents Paul LeRoy Atkinson and Annie Elizabeth White Atkinson in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in the Ogden area and also lived a couple of years in California. He graduated from Weber High School in Ogden.

Les married Deanna Hanson on January 6, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had six children, Tim, Connie, Bob, Kerry, Jeanie, and Jared. They were later divorced.

On August 21, 1976, Les married Terry West Cluff, in Safford, Arizona. Terry was the love of his life. Les helped raise Terry’s four children, Dennis, Debbie, Richard, and Robert.  Terry passed away four years ago, and left such a hole in Les’ heart. They are finally together again!

Les worked hard to support his family, which took him various places around the country. The last position he had was 29 years managing the Monte Vista Mobile Home Community in Roy, which he took great pride in and did an excellent job at.

Les was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including Bishop twice, several times as a counselor in the Bishopric, and as a High Councilor in the Stake.

Les was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and her husband, Naoma and Ben Avis; two sons, Tim Atkinson, Dennis Cluff.

Les is survived by one brother, Dennis (Sherry) Atkinson; two sisters, Deloris (Chad) Moore, Joyce (Dallas) Weston;  his children: Connie (Kaylan) Holmes, Robert (Melanie) Atkinson, Kerry (Robyn) Atkinson, Jeanie (Michael) Bahr, Jared (Liezette) Atkinson, Debbie (Don) Crandell, Richard (Susan) Cluff, Robert (Cindy) Cluff, daughters-in law Connie Opperman, and Cindy (Mike) Read. Les has 49 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
