Lillian (Lily) Isabella Marie Bennett

May 18, 2010 ~ December 10, 2016

Lillian (Lily) Isabella Marie Bennett passed away December 10, 2016 in her mother’s arms and surrounded by her family.

Lily was born on May 18, 2010 with a genetic condition so rare her doctors named it “Lily Syndrome.” Lily spent countless days in the hospital--so many, in fact, that her parents nicknamed it "the castle" where she earned her title of Princess.

She used a wheelchair and was dependent on a tracheostomy, oxygen, and a ventilator for her daily needs. None of this held her back from finding the joy in her life, be it at the hospital, home, or even school. Lily is well known for her love of her Tinkerbell doll. She also enjoyed playing with her fingers, balloon animals, “magic wands” and light up toys. Lily would explore the textures of anything placed into her hands and found hours of joy in things as simple as a straw. Lily constantly inspired people with how hard she worked to learn to use her broken body. Lily loved to cuddle and could soothe even the deepest hurts just by being present with someone who loved her.

Lily especially adored her big sister and expressed so much joy when Lorelei would climb into her bed and play. Lily was extremely tolerant of her baby sister’s playful antics, offering the biggest toothy grins when Lydia crawled on her.

Lily is survived by her parents, Joseph and Danielle Bennett, and two sisters, Lorelei and Lydia, as well as an eclectic makeup of extended family that includes her many grandparents Steve and Marilyn Bennett, Tracy and Alan Mentzer, Dirk and Suzanne Bible, and Sandra Idland, in addition to an abundant family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who love and miss her dearly. Lily is proceeded in death by her grandfather Shane Idland.

There will be a viewing for Lily on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and another Monday, December 19, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. All services will be held at the Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S. There will be a luncheon to celebrate Lily's life at 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Church building located at 2228 S 1660 W in Syracuse.

Lily’s favorite color was orange and she enjoyed bright colors, so her family requests those in attendance to wear bright clothing in honor of Lily. Little girls are welcome to wear princess clothing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Steven’s Hope for Children, 1014 W Foothill Blvd, Upland, CA 91786. This charity allowed Lily and her family to stay near the hospital where she received care to protect her health and make the sweetest memories with their little girls.
