Lillian “Lil” Birt

April 5, 1949 ~ April 25, 2016

Mary Lillian Padilla Birt passed away peacefully after a courageous fight due to complications from surgery.  Her family was by her side.

Lil was born April 5, 1949 to Claude and Ervinia Padilla, the youngest of three girls.  She grew up in and around the Ogden area and attended Bonneville High School.

In May of 1977 Lil married Gary L. Birt and together they raised two children.  For most of their married life they resided in the Layton area.  They later divorced.

Throughout her professional life Lil was a successful real estate agent.  One of her favorite things was helping first time homebuyers.  Lil thrived in her profession and was respected by her peers.

Lil was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and rejoiced recently to see her granddaughter and son-in-law be baptized in the faith.

Lil’s life faced challenges and sadness at times but she was determined to find the joy behind the sorrow.  Laughter after all is the best medicine.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ervinia.

Lil is survived by her children, Torrey (Laura) of Henderson, NV; Jenafer (Allen) of Roy, UT; her five beautiful grandchildren, Drayton, Lordyn, Jarren, BoDeeand Harper, her sisters, Delores (David) of Ogden, Della (Lloyd-deceased) of Clearfield; Estelle Colt of Riverdale; and Alice Viau of Layton; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family would like to thank Jodie Schaller at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.  Her care and love for our Mom helped get us through the last day, as well as the other wonderful nurses that cared for our Mom.

Our Mom’s work here is done.  No more pain, no more sorrow.  Our Mom will always be beautiful, happy and free to fly with her angels.  Our hearts are saddened but we have memories and know she is always with us.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory that no one can steal.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 So., South Ogden.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 8 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
