Lynn Kay Beckstead

HUNTSVILLE – Lynn Kay Beckstead passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 unexpectedly at his home. He was a loving partner, father, grandfather, and friend.
Kay was born August 27, 1943 in Magna, Utah, to Samuel Arnold Beckstead and Elizabeth Benson, one of four children.
Kay earned a B.S. in Engineering in 1971 from the University of Utah and an M.S. in Engineering in 1975 from Utah State University. Kay served 6 years in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged.
He loved an adventure and traveled with his work around the United States and internationally. His travels included New Jersey, Panama, Arizona, New Mexico, Europe and Utah.
Kay married Joyce Beckstead on February 4, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they spent 44 years together. He later met his current partner, Brenda Robinson, and they have been together for 7 years.
Kay had a 37 year Department of Defense civil service career. After civil service, he contributed to our national defense with CAMBER Corporation, Indyne Corporation, URS, Booz Allen Hamilton Corporation, and most recently, The Aerospace Corporation. Throughout his career he made significant contributions to our national defense, specifically in regard to nuclear weapons (effects, storage, design), system engineering, aerospace engineering, program management, test and evaluation, space systems design, and as a subject matter expert in propulsion, guidance, re-entry, and ground systems.
He loved his work, traveling, playing guitar and banjo, and he loved his home, partner and family. He was always there to offer a kind word, an easy smile and a shoulder to lean on.
He is survived by his partner, Brenda Robinson; ex-wife, Joyce Beckstead; daughter, Sandra (Andrew) Seddon; grandchildren, Joshua and Charles Seddon; and brother, Lamar (Penny) Beckstead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Beckstead; sister, Colleen Beckstead; and brother, Earl Beckstead.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful. Friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery
