Mildred Tippetts Bowen
“Together Again”
August 4, 1923 ~ January 21, 2021
Mildred Tippetts Bowen, 97, a longtime Ogden resident, passed away peacefully at Our House Assisted Living of Ogden. The family thanks the kind and loving staff there for their ongoing care of Mom.
Milli was born in Morgan, Utah on August 4, 1923. Her parents, John Roy Tippetts and Ethel Josephine Adair delivered her at home. Milli graduated from Morgan High School and married John Edward Bowen from Coalville, Utah on October 24, 1940 in Farmington. They were married for 60 years when John passed in November of 2000. They had six children together: John, Roger, Connie, Kim, Bruce, and Jeffrey.
Mildred loved the piano and taught it for 20 years. She also sold real estate professionally until she was 80 years old. She lived in Hurricane, Utah for 20 years until 2010 when she moved back to Ogden, Utah to be closer to family after John passed away.
She was very cultured. She went to Egypt and Bali, Indonesia and all over Europe. She loved Venice and went there three times. She loved having all of her children and grandchildren visit her through the years. She also made the best chocolate cake and fudge in the world.
Milli was feisty – she was bold, beautiful, strong, ‘hella smart’, extremely curious, a lover of travel, discovery, and science. She was reserved but could let go at times and laugh and laugh and laugh. She had strong opinions but she could explain herself and justify her perspective. You always knew where you stood with Milli, and at the end of the day you always knew that she was there for you. She never left home without her hair done and makeup on. She was professional, respectful, a hard worker, passionate for life, and enjoyed gardening. Her green thumb won her awards in Hurricane for best yard in town a number of times.
Milli is survived by her children, John “Dennis” Bowen of Littleton, Colorado; Roger (Marcie) Bowen, Edgewood, New Mexico; Connie Emerson, Farr West, Utah; Bruce (Sue) Bowen, Walnut Creek, California; and Jeff (Lori) Bowen of Washoe Valley, Nevada; 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many-many great-great-grandchildren; and her last sister, Glenna Dodge, Hurricane, Utah. In addition to her husband, John, Milli was preceded in death by her son, Kim Ryan Bowen; two grandchildren, Sean Cook and Chad Cook; her brothers, Emerson and Von Tippetts; and her sister, Leila Hansen; as well as her daughter-in-law, Judith Bowen.
