Ray Galen McNeely passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 9, 2017 after a courageous nine year battle with Cancer.

He was born in Rupert, Idaho on July 26, 1948 to Raymond and Pauline McNeely.  He grew up in Ogden and attended Bonneville High School, Class of 1966.  He first joined the Navy Reserve in 1965.  After graduating high school he joined the United States Marine Corps.  Serving as a Marine for over thirteen years, he was stationed at various Marine Corps posts including Cuba and Asia, earning the distinction of Marine of the year, 1971 in Okinawa, Japan.  He served as a Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant and Drill Instructor at Paris Island, South Carolina from 1975-1977.  Upon completion of his military service, he joined his father in the family business, McNeely Sales and Warehousing.  His dedication and commitment to the company his father started continued until his death.  In addition to the continuing success of McNeely Sales, he also served as President of Nordic Valley Ski Resort from 1998 to 2003.

On May 20, 2000, he married his best friend and love of his life, Barbara Jo Allen.  Their love and devotion to one another weathered the most difficult times and even upon death could not be broken.

Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara; one sister, Cristi Ann (Jeff) Salerno, Pueblo, Colorado;  three sons; Jake Shannon (Ruth Ann); Raymond McNeely (Leslie); Michael McNeely (Tiffany); daughter, Lori Ann Blau (Josh); Stepsons, Robert Carmichael (Chris), Richard Carmichael (Deana) and step daughter Jillian Gerber; 14 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter on the way.

Barbara’s Husband, our father, brother and uncle had an exemplary work ethic.  He had a life-long passion for camping, fishing, hunting and shooting sports.  He will forever be remembered as a sportsman and patriot with an unwavering dedication to his family and his country.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  He will be laid to rest at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden where military honors will be accorded.

There are not enough thanks that can be given to his wife, Barbara.  Her tireless efforts taking care of him from his first diagnosis to his final moments will always be remembered and cherished.

A special thanks to Dr. Carl Gray and the entire staff at Utah Hematology Oncology for their care and treatment over the last nine years.
