Robert Miller Lund
April 18, 1930 ~ February 7, 2017
Robert Miller Lund, beloved husband, father, grandfather and scouter, left the bounds of mortality on February 7, 2017 to take his place in the royal courts on high. He was born on April 18, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to Walter and Ethel Miller Lund and grew up in Ogden. He married Deloris Jean Jeffries on April 27, 1963 in Vernal, Utah and was sealed to her in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1965.
He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Mission and later with his wife on Temple Square. He served as a photographer in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a Logistics Engineer at Hill Air Force Base as a civilian for 38 years.
Bob loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, especially when it involved family. He was an avid collector of stamps, coins, and ice cream. He would give the best bear hugs and would flirt with just about anyone. He was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was even called to be Bishop at age 70 because he could still relate to the youth.
Bob was adopted and raised by his Aunt Irene and looked to other men as role models while he was growing up. He promised that he would never let a boy grow up without knowing he was loved, so in order to keep that promise he coached little-league baseball, football, and soccer, but his true love and most powerful influence was that of a scouter. Bob guided over 60 boys to the rank of Eagle Scout, many of which came from broken families. He trained hundreds of adult leaders in how to truly be a scout leader by loving the boys. He taught by vivid example and has imprinted the love of the Savior in all that he did. Some of his greatest joys were weeklong scout camps, serving as staff and course director of Wood Badge, and being awarded the Silver Beaver.
Bob is survived by his wife, Deloris; four sons, Jeffrie (Ann) Lund, Cristopher (Wendi) Lund, Trace (Brooke) Lund, and Trent (Wendy) Lund, 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Berry Lund; his mother, Ethel Miller Lund; mom, Irene Lund; and his brother, Paul Lund.
Special thanks to the staff of The Abbington - Mapleton for the love, devotion and kindness shown, and allowing Bob and Dee a wonderful quality of life for the past year.
