Robert Loran Taylor

Robert Loran Taylor, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He was born on September 26, 1924 in Ogden, Utah to Loran J. and Ida Marie “Mary” Bell Taylor. He graduated from Ogden High School and later attended Weber State College graduating with an Associate Degree. He served during WWII and was stationed in Hawaii and Iwo Jima
On November 10, 1948, Robert married Juanita Irene Colyar in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had been married a few weeks short of 67 years when Juanita passed away on October 15, 2015.
He was a locomotive engineer on the South Pacific Railroad for 40 years retiring in 1986. In his younger years he built houses in Washington Terrace and also worked for the US Postal Service.
After retiring, he and Juanita traveled throughout the US in their motor home. They also traveled throughout Europe, Japan, China, and Hawaii. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Robert is survived by his children, Janet (Paul) Wagner, Alta Loma, CA; Sandra (Curt) Hamblin, Vineyard, UT; Kenneth (Patricia) Taylor, Syracuse, UT; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Trudy Daich; and sister-in-law, Delphia Colyar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; three grandchildren, Julie Ann Wagner, Lindsay Hamblin, and Scott Hamblin; and his parents.
Graveside services will be held at on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
