Chief Master Sgt. (Retired) Bob Thornburg passed away peacefully in his sleep on the afternoon of September 1, 2015 after a nine month battle with cancer.

Bob traveled the world with the USAF for almost 28 years.  On a tour of duty to Korea he met and married his wife of 38 ½ years, Marsha Lee.

Bob loved camping with his many, many friends at LaPlata Ranch.  He and Reno his dog and constant companion practically lived there in the summer.

He also enjoyed fishing with his good buddies Pat and Deroyce Black, Darrel Stewart, Greg Clark, and Dale Strebel.

A very special “Thank You” to his very caring friends, Gerry Allred, Hal Ness, and Darrel Stewart.

He is survived by his wife Marsha, one daughter Susan Estares, three grandchildren from Pensacola, Florida, one brother Joe Thornburg, Wagoner, Oklahoma; and three sisters Sarah Pitchford, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Glenda Rogers, VanBuren, Arkansas; Cricket Tuller, Carthage, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Sunday one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers make a contribution to your favorite Pet Shelter or charity of choice.
