Ronald M. Haggerty passed away peacefully Saturday, August 11, 2012 with his family at his side, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Ron was born July 5, 1943 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the oldest son of William and Audrey Haggerty. He later moved to Salmon, Idaho where he graduated from Salmon High School in 1961.

He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1962 and was stationed at Soesterberg AFB, Netherlands; Oxnard, CA; Incurlik, Turkey; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; Wiesbaden, Germany; Hill AFB, UT; and Kirtland AFB, NM; retiring in 1984 and moving back to Utah. After retiring from active duty he worked as a civilian at Hill AFB, retiring in 2006.

While stationed in the Netherlands from 1963 to 1967 he met his Dutch girl, Hermine. Ron and Hermine married June 1, 1965 in a dual language ceremony. He loved to hunt, fish, watch football, golf and basketball (Go Jazz!)

Ron is survived by his wife Hermine; daughters, Carol Haggerty, Clearfield; and Lynda (Peyton) Shoulders, Brigham City. He was a proud grandpa to Brandon (Brennan) Replogle, Clinton; Ashley (Boston) Wilkins, Clinton; McKenna Ferrall, Clearfield; Devin and Sydney Shoulders, Brigham City; and proud great-grandpa to Kylee Anne Weitzel, Tyson Blake (T- Blake) Wilkins, Clinton; and Brooklynn Taylor Replogle, Clinton.

Also surviving is his brother Patrick, Aldie, VA; sisters, Sherry Harris, Lakeside, CA; Debbie McDonald, St. Helens, OR; Diane Figley, Columbia City, OR; and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents and many beloved pets.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Per Ron''s request please wear casual attire.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Ron donated his eyes for research.
