Ruth Prince

Our cherished mother, grandmother and sister, Ruth Hollinger Prince, left this life peacefully on December 16, 2014, at the age of 83, in Payson, UT. Ruth was born May 15, 1931, in Ursine (Eagle Valley), NV to Samuel James Hollinger and the former Elva Udora Leavitt.

She married Bevan Delos Prince, May 10, 1949, in Ursine (Eagle Valley), NV. After a brief time in Pioche, NV, they raised their family in Layton, UT. Ruth and Bevan spent 33 wonderful years together until his passing in 1982.

Ruth enjoyed working in her garden. She loved to entertain guests and cooking for anyone who was there to eat her delicious food. An avid sports fan, Ruth particularly loved to “raise the roof” for the Utah Jazz – rarely missing a game. She was a fantastic bowler and enjoyed spending time bowling with her family, and later, her grandchildren. Ruth also loved to read and to go dancing.

Ruth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in callings in the Primary, Relief Society, family history and as a faithful visiting teacher for many years.

Ruth is survived by her daughters: Sandy Hulse (Frank), Pioche, NV; Colleen Maroney, Layton, UT; and Aileen Huff (Douglas), Salem, UT; her siblings: Udora Morris, Walter Hollinger, Sarah Jane Patterson and Ruby Lister; and her 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bevan Prince, as well as her parents, Samuel and Elva Hollinger, and her great-grandson, Carter Maroney.

Her family wishes to express gratitude to the Payson Beehive Home and I-Care Hospice for the loving care that they provided for Ruth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
