Shanna Page

January 5, 1940 — February 21, 2022

Shanna Rae Chappell Page

Shanna Rae Chappell Page, 82, passed peacefully from this life on February 21, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Shanna was born January 5, 1940 in Salina, Utah to Austin and Roene Maxfield Chappell.  She was a lifelong resident of Kaysville, Utah and enjoyed spending summers in Loa, Utah with her cousins.  She graduated from Davis High School in 1958, continued her education at Weber Junior College, then graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in early childhood development and elementary education.  She spent over two years working in Los Angeles and loved her time as a California girl.  She married Rod Page on June 12, 1964, and together they raised four children.

Shanna was active in the PTA, on the Kaysville City library board, and as a member of the Kaysville Art Club. She served in many stake and ward positions in her church and loved working as a docent at the Church History Museum.  She especially enjoyed serving with her husband as a temple worker and as a missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City mission. She had many accomplishments, but her profound contribution to the world came from the life she lived more than any position she held.

She was a master teacher--the one every parent wanted for their child. In her years of teaching kindergarten and first grade, she taught hundreds of young students to read and to love learning. She had a gift with children; she met them on their level and listened to them and they responded to her love.

Shanna was a true friend. Above her pantry she placed the words "relationships are more important than the task at hand,” and she exemplified that in her life. She loved people and looked for ways to serve, connect, and bless.  To the very end, she had a smile and kind word for everyone.

She was an excellent pianist who loved music and fine art.  She had a gift for creating beautiful, inviting spaces, especially in her home where all who entered felt a sense of welcome, comfort, and peace.  Nana’s was our family’s refuge from the storms and cares of the world.

She was a devoted daughter and took tender care of her mom and dad throughout their lives. We are so happy for their glorious reunion! She loved her brother, and he could do no wrong in her eyes.

Shanna was a wonderful wife, supporting her husband in his work and church service. She was a great mother. She taught us to work and to love learning, and also to see the wonder and joy of the world. She was the best Nana anyone could ever have and had a fun sense of humor. She started family traditions early on that have carried on through her children and grandchildren and that continue to bring us closer to one another.

She was a woman of profound faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Through trials she was an example of turning to Him and having faith in his plan.  Her life is a testimony of Him.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney, and their children, Matthew, Jennifer (Mike) Sandberg, Kathryn (Nate) Niederhauser, and Emily (Brandon) Arrington, 11 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her brother, Carl (Sue) Chappell. She is preceded in death by her parents.
