Sharon Ann Linderman Coombs
November 21, 1929 ~ February 22, 2018
Sharon passed away February 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah to Lewis Valentine Linderman and Dora May Cunningham. She had five brothers and three sisters and was the first girl after four boys. Sharon grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. She enjoyed roller skating, twirling the baton, Pep Club, and going to the White City Ballroom to dance and listen to all the popular bands and orchestras. She was a talented seamstress, and a wonderful cook. She belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She worked for her son Craig as an orthodontic lab tech for 28 years retiring at age 80. Sharon enjoyed being with her family most of all at family gatherings, sports, outdoor activities including waterskiing. She was still waterskiing until she was 76 years old. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend that will be greatly missed.
Sharon married Boyd G. Coombs in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1948. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in several positions including Young Women’s, Primary, scouting, and Relief Society President. She was always serving by her husband’s side as he served in church positions as Bishop and counselor in the Stake Presidency. She lived a life of service. No love in mortality comes closer to approximating the pure love of Jesus Christ than the selfless love our mother showed to her husband, family, and friends. She touched the lives and hearts of countless people she quietly served. She never gave up and conquered things that were unimaginable. She lived a life that brought immense joy to her family and friends.
Sharon is survived by her children, Larry (Gay) Coombs, Craig (Rita) Coombs, Kevin (Lori) Coombs, Lori (Scott) Peterson, Darla (Steve) McBride, Tammy (Gary) Westbroek, and Debra (Jason) Zoolakis; 30 Grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Judy Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away from Alzheimer’s disease in 2006. She provided many years of loving care to him before he passed away. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters, Donald, James, Marvin, Vernon, Belva, Valora, and Douglas; also a grandson, Alan and a great-granddaughter, Kenna.
The family would like to thank their sister Debbie and her family for their exceptional loving care for mom the last eight years. We are ever so grateful for the care and love you showed mom; also a special thanks to the hospice team for their loving care of our mother especially Rhonda, Stephanie, Chante, and Amber
