Shirley Mary Maylett Cain
December 9, 1926 ~ December 14, 2016
Mrs. Shirley Mary Maylett Cain, daughter of wonderful parents, Elroy and Luella Callaway, was born on December 9, 1926. She graduated with honors from Manti High School and attended Weber College.
Shirley married her loving husband, Dell C. Maylett, on August 22, 1945, and after 49 years of marriage Dell passed away. During their marriage, they brought four children into the world. On October 9, 1996, she married Clarence Cecil Cain, a kind and devoted husband. Their 17-year marriage ended when Clarence passed away on October 4, 2013.
Shirley lived in South Ogden her entire married life. She loved the Leona Drive location and its neighbors. During those years, she enjoyed canning, sewing, and baking bread. She loved square dancing, golfing, and racquetball. At the same time she worked at HAFB for 30 years and retired in 1985.
Her dream as a child was to travel the world, and she did with multiple trips to Europe, China, Australia, and the greater U.S.
Her life will be remembered by her children, David Maylett of Fullerton, CA; Diana Maylett of Bellevue, WA; Sheree Budke of Roy, UT; and Suzanne Johnson of Layton, UT; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A special thanks to Jennifer Battisti, her long-term nurse, and caring friend and AFI Hospice Nurse Wendy Larragoitiy.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
