Stanley Steed

Stanley Steed, age 83, passed away at his home on Monday, February 17, 2014, from an extended illness from a pressure ulcer.

He was born July 27, 1930 in Clearfield, Utah to Ronald and Thelma Steed of Clearfield.  He graduated Davis High and resided in Clearfield his entire life.  Stanley married the love of his life on August 28, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.  He was a member of the LDS Church.

He worked from the age of 12 until 2 months before his death.  He delivered newspapers to the Navy Depot, cut sugar beets, worked on the family farm, worked at a gas station and drove a wrecker.  He started working at Simmons Auto Repair as a mechanic in 1954 and eventually took over the business when his father-in-law, Lyle Simmons passed away.  He loved working at the garage.  He rarely missed a day of work.  He was a kind man and was always trusting and willing to help his customers.  He had the best work ethic.

Stanley loved all sports especially the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Cowboys.  His favorite thing to do was to go to Wendover and he was the luckiest man alive.  It was very rare that he lost.  He usually came home with a wad of money.

Surviving are his son, Gary D. Steed, Layton, and two daughters, Candy S. (Ron) Barnett, St. George; and Cindy L. (Gary) Dobyns, Kaysville; one sister, Jenell (Roy) Layton; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.  He was preceded in death by his wife (Carol), his parents, one grandchild, Jason Lewis, one niece, Kathy Ketchem and one son-in-law, Brent Sessions.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February, 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.

Special Thanks to Dr. Robert Taylor,  Tender Care Hospice, and Dr. Martinez and Staff at the Mc-Kay-Dee Wound Clinic.  Stanley had a special place in his heart for Marra, Susan and Andrea from Tender Care. We would also like to thank the family members for all their support over this hard time in our lives.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Primary Children’s Hospital.
