Sylvia Steinert Glover

LAYTON – Sylvia Steinert Glover departed this mortal life on Thursday, January 29, 2015.

She was born April 12, 1935 in New York City, Manhattan Island daughter of Erwin Steinert and Erna Anna Carstens, immigrants from Germany. She lost her mother at the young age of 13 months. Her father later married Ervene Jennet Wallace.

Sylvia was married to Byron James Glover Jr. in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 3, 1953.

Mom attended schools in California and Utah, graduating from Davis High School in Kaysville. She was an active member of the Layton Dixie Ward, and enjoyed a full life of service in LDS church, as well as service activities in her community. Mom served in Stake Relief Society, and in many ward Relief Society Presidencies. She also served as Primary President and as a Counselor, as well as the Scouting program and youth programs in all organizations in the LDS faith. Mom enjoyed visiting families throughout her life and being of service to others. She had a beautiful singing voice and was involved in many ward choirs and quartets, and always had a love for music. Mom loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and we all love and cherish her. She was always grateful for the beauty around her and for her many blessings.

Mom loved animals and had many joys in her life. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making afghans. She loved family genealogy, temple work and working in her yard alongside Dad. Mom was a wonderful example of hard work and dedication. She always remembered birthdays and special events and was always thinking of others.

Mom considered her greatest calling and blessing being a wife and eternal companion to Dad for 61 years and mother to her nine children. She loved being a homemaker and had a great love for her family. We honor her as a wonderful example of faith and endurance.

Mom is survived by her husband Byron James Glover Jr., her children Corinne (Dennis Jensen), Sheridan, MT; Jenene (Dr. Marlin Dahl), Layton; Byron Jim III (Dixie Glover), Malad, ID; William Lynn (Teresa Glover), Mesa, AZ; Lori (Brent Law), Kaysville; Melody (Jonathan), Spanish Fork; Dr. David (Heidi Glover), Morgan; Dan (Rebecca Glover, San Tan Valley, AZ; Darrell Glover, Layton; 40 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
