Todd Caine Cummings
March 2, 1929 ~ January 18, 2018
Todd Caine Cummings, beloved husband and father, peacefully passed away at home in the midst of his family. The son of James Rulon and Gwendolyn Marie Caine Cummings, was born March 2, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was married to Colleen Dickson on August 2, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple by Apostle John A. Widsoe. She was always his sweetheart. They had four children.
He graduated from East High, where he was a class officer and lettered in three sports. He also attended the U. of U. and LDS Business College. He worked for the Federal Government for 38 years and was honored to have helped to preserve the Peace of our Country. He was also Business Manager at National Institute of Fitness, his daughter and son-in-law’s health resort in St. George.
Todd lived a full life centered on family, church, and community. He loved his family and was happiest when he was with his wife, children and grandchildren. They had many wonderful trips together including Disneyland, Europe, Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas.
He was a steadfast member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served his mission to the North Central States. While serving, he was a District President and was called to be second counselor to his mission president. At age 23 he was called to be a Bishop. He also served in the Ben Lomond South Stake presidency for 13 years. He was responsible for Stake finances, which included raising funds for: Ogden Tabernacle, McKay Hospital, Ogden Temple, 14 Seminary buildings, one Stake Park, two Stake Centers, 4 ward chapels and a 30-acre Stake farm.
He loved skiing, football, softball, sailing, temple work and family history, and made the best fudge ever!!
His children are Dr. Todd Cary and Kay Cummings, Vicki and Dr. Marc Sorenson, Bishop Greg and Kathy Cummings, and Debbie and Bishop Phillip Child. He has 10 grandchildren and 24 ½ great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank AFI Advanced Care Hospice, especially Trisha, Rhonda, and Vance.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 1st Ward Chapel, 575 East 3100 North. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. Service entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
