Willie Morris Hemphill

LAYTON – Willie Morris Hemphill, 69, passed away August 11, 2018 at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born on December 6, 1948 in Weir, Mississippi the son of Eddie Allen and Garner Lee Edwards Hemphill.

Willie married Janeen Winegar on August 10, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Willie was investigating member of the LDS Church.

He loved to make others happy and it made him happy to see them smile.  He was kind and giving.

Surviving are his wife Janeen Hemphill, ex-wife, Barbara Thirkle, sons, Donald (Jozette) Hemphill, Carl Hemphill, Curtis (Hailey) Hemphill, brothers, Larry (Debra) Hemphill, DeMille (Wanda) Hall, sister, Marlene (Robert) Sharp, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, Dontay Hemphill, Ebonee Hemphill, Nikeeta Hemphill, William Hemphill, Steven Hemphill and Darren Hemphill.

Preceded in death by his mothers, Garner Hemphill, Carrie Brown, fathers, Eddie A Hemphill, Curtis Brown, siblings, Victoria Hemphill Staples, Billie Hemphill, James Hemphill, Doris Hemphill, Terry Hemphill, niece, Desiree Hemphill, nephew, Bobbie Sharp and Godson, Louis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah.  There will be a luncheon at the Greenbrier Stake Center, 605 S. 1000 W., Layton after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations to help with funeral costs would be appreciated.  If I have missed anyone or made mistakes, I apologize, it is not intentional.
