Junior Abel Benitez Ojeda was born on December 28, 1993 to Alicia Benitez and Sebastian Benitez. He was the second born of five sons. Abel unexpectedly left us on September 28, 2022. He was 28 years old. Abel was born in Asuncion, Paraguay and migrated to Ogden, UT with his family at the age of seven years old in the early spring of 2001. Abel grew with a deep love of his culture and family’s heritage. Abel graduated from Ogden High School in the Spring of 2012 and had a lasting impact on the community by being involved in Student Body Office.
Abel’s dream was to become the first Paraguayan actor to be awarded an Oscar which drove him to Los Angles where he worked on several projects that propelled his acting career. Abel starred in several commercials and films, the first being in “Ogden: The Crossroads of the West” with his last and most notable role in “Muy Gay too Mexicano,” a short film which aired in 2020 released on HBO. While in Los Angles he taught at The Young Americans College of The Performing Arts and attended North Central Michigan College and graduated with an Associate Degree in The Arts.
Along with his abundant performing skills, he received a certificate for graduating from The International Stunt School in Seattle, Washington in August of 2022. While Abel was a very talented and accomplished performer, dancer, and actor, he also received a certificate in being a public notary in the state of Utah. He traveled the globe in pursue of both his career and passion to explore. He traveled across both North and South America, Japan, Austria, Canada, and even more countries bringing back only amazing stories to tell.
Abel was a shining light. He was so kindhearted and outgoing to everyone he met, making one of his many talents making friends. He had a so many passions, including a love for cooking, spending time with friends and family, hiking and exploring nature, and a never-ending love for enjoying coffee. He was a proud advocate and member of the LGBTQ community, which added to the amazing influence he had on others. His sense of humor would brighten any room he was in. Not only was he these things, but he was also so empathetic, charismatic, kind, and everything a person could be that would make them wonderful; that made Abel wonderful.
Abel is survived by his parents, Alicia and Sebastian Benitez; brother, Erik Benitez (wife Amber Benitez); brother, Alex Benitez; brother, Norman Benitez; and brother, Oliver Benitez.
