Ada Violet Wangsgard Wakefield

Ada Violet Wangsgard Wakefield passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 98, at her home. She was the eldest of two children born to Samuel and Hazel Grace Smith Wangsgard. She was born December 28, 1913 at her Grandmother Smith''s home in Huntsville, Utah.

Ada was raised on a farm in Huntsville and was educated in Weber County Schools: Valley School, North Junior, and graduated from Weber High in 1932. She continued her education in the nursing program at Weber College.

Later she met and married Lewis E. Wakefield on November 14, 1936. They were married 63 years raising their six children and later helping their son raise his four children. Lewis died June 25, 1999.

Ada was a fabulous cook and always had Sunday dinner for her family as well as holiday dinners. Her hobbies were cooking, being with her family, and following Weber State University and Jazz basketball.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Lewis Thayle, N. Ogden; Lou Ann, Colleen, and Samuel Lance, all of Layton; Theron Lynn, Huntsville; and Randy Doyle, Layton.

Also surviving are four exuberant grandchildren: Wendy W. (Dan Morris), Jill W. (James Twede), Samuel Scott Wakefield (Milena), and Andrew Lance Wakefield (Tara).

Ada is also survived by four entertaining great-grandchildren: Katherine Ada and Abram James Twede; and Oliver Lance and Mae Cora Wakefield.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Theone Wangsgard.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and brother and sister-in-law, Lynnwood and Mildred Wangsgard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services.
