Kaye Gould
NORTH OGDEN – Adeline Belle “Kaye” Shuman Gould, died peacefully at her home on Monday, October 15, 2007.
She was born August 1, 1924 in Salt Lake City, to Alvin Owen and Adeline Louise Whiticker Shuman. She was raised and educated in Salt Lake City before moving to Ogden in 1940.
Kaye married Vernon Holmes on May 5, 1941. They later divorced. Kaye married Grover William Sparkman on July 12, 1946. They later divorced. She married Laurence O. Gould January 19, 1970. He preceded her in death September 10, 1983. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Temple in 1984.
Kaye was a nurse’s aide at the Dee Hospital during WWII and was active in the Ogden PTS. She was later a manager of Barkalow Brothers Newsstand in the Union Train Station, and she also worked at Kiddie Ville and Kids Klothes.
Kaye was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Primary Teacher in the Ogden 26th Ward and Sunday School Secretary in the 44th ward.
Kaye always looked forward to her hairdo day with her best friend Lucille. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club #6.
She is survived by her five children, Norman Holmes, Layton; Stephen Holmes, CA; Dale (Pam) Sparkman, Harrisville; Denice (Dennis) Newman, Ogden; DeAnn (Donna) Sparkman, Lynn, MA; six grandchildren, Chad, Joe, Bob, Karie Leigh, Eric and Kelsey; and 11 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Natasha, Cody, Alex, Amber, Cameron, Samantha, Blake, Nolan and Landon.
Kaye was a sweet spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.
We would like to thank the staff at Emeritus Estates for giving her the catered life that she always wanted, and for the care and support that you always provided not only to her, but also to her family. We would also like to thank Stephanie from Hospice for the support and love you have shown us and for making sure she had the dignity, comfort and peace at the end of her life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007, 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday, October 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
