Adella E. VanderDoes
OGDEN – Adella Ethel VanderDoes, 87, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at a local care center in Ogden.
She was born August 5, 1922 in Ogden, a daughter of William E. and Ethel Beamy Belnap Barker.
On May 16, 1941, Adella married the love of her life, Cornelius “Bud” Bakker VanderDoes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bud preceded her in death on May 2, 2004.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the Lord and held many church callings. She served as an Ogden Temple worker for eight years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved to play the organ. She also loved family history and compiled volumes of cherished memories. She was a great example to her grandchildren.
Adella loved to travel with her husband Bud. Her other hobbies included photography and scrapbooking. Adella loved to collect and write inspirational thoughts. She had a charming sense of humor.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Raymond (Valerie) VanderDoes, Ogden; Kenneth (LaDale) VanderDoes, Bremerton, WA; Marlene (Barry) Hadley, and Carolyn (Blake) Corbridge, both of Ogden; 19 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Evelyn Galloway, Bountiful.
Preceding Adella in death were her parents, husband, one sister, Norma Carn and one brother, Alma Barker.
The family expresses special thanks to Crestwood Care Center and Applegate Homecare for their love and kindness.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
