Adolph Huebert Huesgen

CLINTON – Adolph Hubert (“Bud”) Huesgen, 84 said goodbye to his loved ones for a season on Saturday, August 16, 2008. Bud was born on February 12, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Adolph Huesgen and Leona Luebbert Huesgen. He was raised in Richmond Heights, Missouri and graduated from Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School in 1942. Bud was later to go on to the University of California, Berkeley, California and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in 1958. Bud was married to his childhood sweetheart Ruth Biersheim from 1945 to 1979. He later married Shirley Slater LaZalere McNeil in 1991. They had a very happy sixteen years together while living in Placerville, California and Clinton, Utah. Bud joined the U.S. Air Force in November 1942, as a reservist. Called to active duty when he was 19 years old, Bud trained as a co-pilot of the B-17. He flew 19 missions over Germany. The plane was hit by flak and crashed. Out of the nine-man crew, he was the only one not killed or injured. Bud was discharged in 1947 but was later recalled in 1951, serving in the Korean War, stationed in Honshu, Japan. Bud was discharged in November 1953. Bud worked various positions, working for the Sacramento Army Depot until 1985 and McClellan Air Force Base until 1992 as an Industrial Engineer. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Monforss of Fiddletown, California and Lisa Eubanks of Carmichael, California. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother, Laura Schulte of St. Louis, Missouri; Mary Pauline Wegmann of Branson, Missouri and Bob Huesgen of Florrissant, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Jim and Bill. Bud was a very loving man who could laugh at himself and could joke with the best of them. His family dearly loved him. Grandpa Bud was encircled by the love of his extended family and he will sorely be missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends and family may call Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
