Afton Rowine Christensen Boseman
Afton Rowine Christensen Boseman passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at her home from complications from diabetes. She was born June 2, 1935 in Green River, Utah to Dafton E. Christensen and Eva Lucinda Hunt Christensen. She was raised in Salt Lake City but her heart always remained in Green River where her many family members resided. She attended schools in Salt Lake City including West High School. She married John Jerald (Jerry) Boseman in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 29, 1951.
Jerry joined the Air Force soon after and the young couple embarked on an incredible journey together for the next 23 years. They lived in 5 different states, the Philippines and Germany. She always held a special place in her heart for the time they spent in the Philippines. Rowine had a gift for making many lifelong friends everywhere she went. Although she struggled with many health issues in her life she was supportive of Jerry through his many TDY’s away from the family. They made their home in Clearfield after Jerry’s retirement in 1973.
After retirement Jerry and Rowine became foster parents and in the subsequent years extended their love of children beyond their own seven. She volunteered often including time at Davis Hospital and Davis County DCFS. She was always active in the LDS church and held many positions the Primary being one of her favorites. She was proud to be a member of the DUP. She and Jerry enjoyed traveling in their motor home for several years gathering genealogy information from extended family throughout Southern Utah. This work eventually became part of a Hunt family book that was published. They also did research and helped compile a book for Jerry's Crolley line.
Rowine is survived by her loving husband Jerry, her children: Dr. Jerald Boseman (Sherrie), Dr. Jody Boseman (Katherine), Rodger Boseman (Elizabeth), Blaine Boseman (Martha), Lindy Reid (Joel), Leila Caldwell (Robert), Gregg Boseman (Shannon), Kipp Boseman (Krystal), Charles Brown (Colleen). Her legacy includes 36 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. She is also survived by her Sister Gayle (Gene) Stevens and 4 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Roma Wright and a Nephew.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, Sandy, Utah.
