Afton Stallings Johnson

September 5, 1942 ~ November 24, 2017

Afton Stallings Johnson, 75, left this mortal life on Friday, November 24, 2017, where she came to be free from pain. She was a strong and courageous woman and fought a long tough battle with multiple myeloma.

She was born September 5, 1942 to Leslie J. and Kathryn A. Huss Stallings. She was born and raised in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School where she met the love of her life, Richard T. Johnson. They were married March 8, 1963 in Ogden. Together they had two children, six grandchildren, and two step grandchildren and a granddogger, Gracie.

Afton enjoyed spending time with her sisters and meeting friends for lunch. She loved going camping with her family. Afton and Richard joined an ATV club where they saw many amazing places and met many wonderful friends.

She also loved spending time with family, playing games, golfing, jig-saw puzzles, chocolate, crocheting, knitting, reading, genealogy, cats and a good rain storm. Afton left us with many valuable life lessons and cherished memories. She never complained during her long battle with cancer and would always say “I am feeling better today” whether she was or not. She never ceased to amaze us with her strength both physically and mentally.

She leaves behind her husband, Richard; children: Wayne (Annette) Johnson, Layton; Nancie (Gene) Moyes, Preston, Idaho; grandchildren: Jennifer, Bryce, Nash and Ella Johnson, Layton; Megan (Taylor) Day, Japan; Mason Moyes, Landon (Torrey) Moyes, South Jordon and Jessica (Austin) Hollingsworth, Idaho; sisters: Jean (Jay) Gould, Eden; Sue (Norm) Brown, SLC.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden, UT. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
