Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Afton Margetts Woffinden, age 95, returned home November 12, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to John and Cacia Margetts in Salt Lake on August 18, 1914. She married her childhood sweetheart Lowell E. Woffinden on November 25, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Our loving matriarch served so willingly and unselfishly to bind our family together with love, service, traditions and teaching us the lessons of life through her example. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in many church positions with love and faithfulness. As a masterful musician, she enriched the lives of many with her violin and organ music, including her service in playing the organ for 9 years in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked at Murdock Travel for 13 years in the church department.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, daughter Betty Jean, brothers Jack, Russell and Phillip Margetts, sisters Lavon Margetts and Rhea Wilson. She is survived by Janet (Henry) Ploeger, Donna (Niel) Teeples, L. Kent (Peggy) Woffinden, Colleen (Kent) Norris and Calvin Woffinden, brother Lynn (Blanche) Margetts, sister Francis Wilson, brother-in-law, Lynn Wilson, sisters-in-law, Marion Margetts, Janice Margetts, Ruth Woffinden and Carol Taylor. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday November 16, 2009 at the Olympus 3rd Ward 4100 S. Camille Dr. (2522 E.) in Holladay, UT. Friends may call Sunday November 15 from 6-8 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Monday 9:30-10:30 am at the church prior to the services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
