LAYTON – Afton Larue Young, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at her home where she had resided for 64 years.
She was born on July 24, 1932 in Mona, Utah the daughter of Alton B. and Celia Sperry Young.
Afton married Philip Baker Young on June 2, 1950 in Layton, Utah.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Layton Jaycee’s and Lions and was very involved in the activities.
Afton loved to knit, crochet, was an excellent cook, homemaker, mother and wife.
Surviving are her husband, Philip, Layton; sons, Rick Bryant Young, Layton; Philip Lorin (Red) Young, Layton; daughter, Denice Young Connors, Hudson, CO; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Paterakis, Layton; Ruth Robins, St. George; and Shirley Barber, Syracuse.
Preceded in death by her brother, Clark Young, two grandsons, David and P. J. Young.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
