Agetha Butterfield King
October 15, 1923 ~ May 14, 2017
Agetha Butterfield King, 93, passed away in her sleep at her home (where she wanted to be) on May 14, 2017. What a glorious Mother’s Day reunion she must have had with loved ones who have been waiting for her.
She was born on October 15, 1923, in Sacramento, CA, to Raymond O. and Ellen Morley Butterfield, the third of three girls. She was raised in Ogden except for a few years spent in Oregon during high school.
She wed Lloyd King on June 26, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She worked for the telephone company before her marriage and then at J.C. Penney Co. for seven years. Her focus in life was raising her four children in a very loving home. She and Lloyd also found much joy in having their grandchildren and great-grandchildren spend time with them over the years.
Agetha was lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spending her entire married life as a member of the Orchard Park (old 9th) Ward. She served faithfully in many ward and stake callings. She served a fulltime mission with her husband in 1985 to Zimbabwe, Africa.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved to quilt and crochet and passed her skills on to several of her family.
Agetha is survived by her daughter, Gale (Earl) Livingston, Ogden; sons, Corey (Cindy) King, Centerville and Tracy (Jean) King, Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Mike Telford; parents, and two sisters, Wanda May King and Lola Rae Case.
The family wishes to thank the staff of ComfortWorx Hospice and the many friends and family who lovingly watched over our sweet mom.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Orchard Park Ward, 3270 Orchard Ave., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
