Al Conrad Abeyta
August 30, 1943 ~ August 23, 2015
Al Conrad Abeyta, AKA honey, dad, grandpa, nino, compadre, and big Al, went to Heaven on Sunday, August 23, 2015. He was born August 30, 1943 in Edith, Colorado, a son of Jacinto and Elena Perea Abeyta.
On June 7, 1969, Al married the love of his life, Ellie Montoya in Stockton, Utah.
He served three tours in Vietnam and four years active duty with the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Naval Reserve and from Hill Air Force Base as a parachute rigger. He founded A’s Upholstery, where his son Jacob is continuing his legacy.
Al was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He enjoyed anything outdoors; fishing, hunting, camping, watching Western movies and upholstering. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Broncos fan and never missed a Utah Jazz game.
Al is survived by his wife, Ellie, a son, Jacob (Nicky) Abeyta, Syracuse; two daughters, Rosemary (Willie) Duckworth, Ogden; Cynthia (Richard) Luna, Cypress, TX; ten grandchildren, one great-grandson; two brothers, Larry Abeyta, West Haven; Nimrod Abeyta, Clearfield; and two sisters, Ruth Romero, and Lillian Leon, both of Roy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phil.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 514 – 24th Street, Ogden. The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
