Alan Duane Gibson

Alan Duane Gibson passed away on June 5, 2023, at Stonehenge Center in Washington Terrace, Utah.

 

  Alan was born in Ogden, Utah to Duane J.  Gibson and Delores Mary Ranson. He grew up in Ogden and attended Ben Lomond High School where he took top marksman in ROTC for the state in1969. After high school, he had lots of work in different job areas. He attended Weber State College and Ogden Technology Center. Alan met Wendy Gibson in October of 1969 by a friend of a friend. They were married in April 3,1970 and later sealed in the Ogden City Temple on July 14, 1983.

 

Alan did join the United States Air Force a year and a half later after they were married but was sent home due to an accident. The Ogden city area has been their home for most of their married years. They did move in 1979 to Wyoming for a few years to work in the oil fields. Alan was a Journeyman Carpenter and a Master Welder for most of his life.

 

Alan was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and friend. He loved corny jokes, old country music and loud rock and roll. He loved working with his hands and growing a garden. He also loved oil painting, fowl and game hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing golf and darts.

 

Alan has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as a home teacher, and a Sunday School President.

 

Alan has been an active member in the Boy Scouts of America where he earned his Eagle Scout and was part of the Order of the Arrow. Alan served as Cub Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. He was delighted to help his sons and grandsons with scouting. Alan taught Hunter safety to many. He taught all three of our children to shoot and be responsible with guns.

 

Alan enjoyed being outdoors and taught his children to love camping. His family carries on his values of service, hard work, resourcefulness, and faithfulness.

 

Alan is survived by his adored wife, Wendy of 53 years; his daughter, Laurie Vincent (Ryan);  two sons, Roger Gibson (Lynda); Justin Gibson (Drema). He is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sisters, Tamra Barajas and Gaylynne Shakespeare. 

 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanie Ellen parents, Duane and Delores, brother Kenneth, and sister Robin.

 

Internment, dedication and a combined family prayer will be held after the passing of his eternal companion. Where they will share a grave not far from their youngest daughters'. Friends and family are welcome to attend at that time.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Stonehenge, Enhabit Hospice and Dr. Bruce Horowitz for the care and concern they all showed for Alan.
