Alan William Mollenhauer

February 14, 1947 — August 12, 2024

Alan William Mollenhauer finished well his earthly journey and went home to the arms of his Savior conquering death on August 12th, after a long battle with cancer.

He began his journey on February 14, 1947, in Owatonna, Minnesota where he was born to Lydia and Gordon Mollenhauer. He spent his early years on the farm where the love of animals and country life took hold of his heart.

He married Barbara Ann (Schulz) Mollenhauer on December 16, 1967, in Goodhue, Minnesota and 3 months later began his Air Force adventure. He served his country for 22 years. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he had been diagnosed with lymphoma and given 3-5 years to live. God graciously healed him and gave him an additional 35 years. After the Air Force, he touched the hearts and lives of hundreds of children as a school bus driver, driver trainer and Utah State tester.

Alan was a cowboy at heart and very much enjoyed his land, livestock and especially his horses. He loved living in the west and the hiking, fishing, hunting, trail riding, camping, etc., that it offered. He loved to worship within the cowboy culture as well at Wasatch Cowboy Church. His horses eventually were traded in for his motorcycle and years of involvement with the Freeway Riders Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Assn. whose motto is “Changing the world, one heart at a time.”

Alan was loved by all who knew him. He was confident in who he was in Christ and had a servant’s heart. He will be remembered and missed for his integrity, quick smile, the twinkle in his eyes that came when he was up to something, stewardship of God’s blessings, his caring hugs and the way he loved everyone. He had a grateful heart and was aware of his many blessings. His definition of blessed and the code he strove for was Blessed is the man in whom a clear conscience rests; in whom a faithful woman trusts; who finds fulfillment in his work; through whom his children see God and in whom good friends can comfortably confide.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Stacey Lyn (Mollenhauer) Pauly and husband Corwin; Shane Alan Mollenhauer and wife Mandi. Grandchildren, Rebekah (Pauly) Willis & husband Joshua; Abigail (Pauly) Williams & husband Matthew; David Pauly, Elizabeth (Pauly) Sandman & husband Joseph; and Sarah Pauly. Great Grandchildren, Peyton, Leon and Zoe Willis; Caleb and Ezekiel Williams; Theodore Sandman. Brothers; Wesley (Celeste) Mollenhauer; James (Vickie) Mollenhauer; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lydia (Vogel) Mollenhauer and a sister Anne (Mollenhauer) Shelstad.
