Alberico Matteucci

On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Alberico "Poly" Matteucci returned to his Heavenly Father after a long struggle with Alzheimer''s. The fifth of six children, he was born in Devil''s Slide, Utah on November 20, 1919, the son of Giuseppe and Gelsomina Matteucci.

He attended Morgan High School where he boxed and played football. As a youth, he worked on a farm in Croyden. He worked for the E.C. Olsen box factory and worked for many years as a foreman in the roofing industry.

On April 4, 1953, Poly married Kay Donaldson. He was a convert to the LDS Church and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He was active in the Church and served in many callings including, Elders Quorum President, Young Men''s Advisor, Counselor in the Bishopric, and the Bishop''s Executive Secretary. He was an Ogden Temple worker and served a mission with his wife to the North Carolina, Raleigh Mission. He was a faithful home teacher for 44 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Like his father, he was an avid New York Yankee fan and loved to watch the Utah Jazz games.

Poly is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; his children, Debbie and John Jones, Shelley and Bob Dockstader, Kathy and Mike Allred, Julie Flitton, Peggy and Jerry Harris, Kenny and Eve Matteucci and his sister, Emola Lowe. He has 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, two sons, Carl and Joe Matteucci, and a grandson, Parker Alberico Allred.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet friends for a visitation on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
